Roleplay servers ask players to act within a shared setting, often with characters, professions and story rules. The amount of acting expected varies. Read the application process and the boundary between character conflict and player conduct before joining a story.

What to check on a Roleplay server
Read the setting
Check the world’s lore, technology and character restrictions. A convincing character for one setting may not fit another, even if both use fantasy themes.
Check participation expectations
Some communities require in-character chat, applications or scheduled sessions. Decide whether those expectations fit your available time and preferred communication style.
Understand conflict consent
Learn how combat, theft and character death are resolved. Mechanical ability to attack someone does not necessarily mean the roleplay rules permit it.
Separate player and character information
Rules may restrict using information your character could not know. Check how private scenes, external chats and moderator reports are handled.

Roleplay server FAQs
Do I need acting experience?
Not always. Look for beginner guidance and read the application requirements. A server may value consistency and cooperation more than elaborate writing.
Can I play an existing fictional character?
Some settings require original characters or restrict names and backgrounds. Check before writing an application.
Is voice chat required?
Only if the community specifies it. Text-based and voice-based roleplay can have different participation expectations.
Can my character die permanently?
That depends on consent, combat and story rules. Understand the consequences before entering a dangerous scene.
What is metagaming?
In this context it generally means using knowledge your character does not possess. The server’s rules should give examples and explain enforcement.
Is roleplay the same as an RPG server?
No. RPG systems can provide levels and quests without requiring acting. Roleplay places more emphasis on participating as a character.
